When Oskar (Kåre Hedebrant), a sensitive, bullied 12-year-old boy living with his mother in suburban Sweden, meets his new neighbor, the mysterious and moody Eli (Lina Leandersson), they strike up a friendship. Initially reserved with each other, Oskar and Eli slowly form a close bond, but it soon becomes apparent that she is no ordinary young girl. Eventually, Eli shares her dark, macabre secret with Oskar, revealing her connection to a string of bloody local murders.

At the heart of the story is a coming of age romance between two tragic characters that is very compelling. There is an impending sense of dread for all the main characters. You are rooting for them, but... every possible outcome is tragic.

Still holds up very well. The performances, story, music and visuals are all good but the movie's strength is the interaction between to the two main characters, and the setting of the film is used to good effect. One of the best vampire movies of the past 30 years or so

honestly cant see why other people even considered this to be watchable. to me it felt like a cheap attempt of making a romance with forced vampirism and pedophilia.

This is a beautiful story of a young girl who happens to be a blood sticking vampire, and as we see her story progress, you can't help but feel for the young Miss. I enjoyed this probably more than most as I'm a fan of all things Horror and Sci-fi. The atmosphere and setting make this film quite a thrill for the senses.
