She becomes a model, signs with an agency and embarks on the road to success, determined to avoid the dangerous pitfalls over-the-hill model Mary Ashlon (Ann Dvorak) personifies. Yet Lily falls for affluent Steve Harleigh (Ray Milland), although she is aware that he is married to a crippled woman.
