Movie Info

Based on the story by Paul Gallico, Lili stars Leslie Caron as the title character, a 16-year-old waif who runs off to join a carnival. This MGM movie is studio-system filmmaking at its most protective, and it's designed entirely to showcase Leslie Caron

Lelsie Caron is charming in her first Oscar nominated role as an orphan who takes with a carnival in this second-rate MGM musical (technically a melodrama with songs), which was very popular due to the Oscar-winning score, Hi-Lili, Hi-Lo."

Audience Reviews for Lili

Leslie Caron is sweet and Mel Ferrer is broodingly handsome. It's a cute story with moving drama as LIli comes to recognize the love of the man behind the puppets, but it lacks a little of the severity of the novel. I would recommend both novel and movie.

Very sweet. Didn't like the 'doin' choreography" scenes as much as the scenes with Caron and Ferrer.
