I honestly think this gets way too much hate; the survival vibes and dinosaur moments are still super fun. What Worked: • I honestly love the darker, shadow-filled look that creates an awesome survival horror atmosphere. • The trailer dangling off the cliff part is built so well and kept me completely glued to the screen. • Mixing real animatronics with digital effects honestly makes the dinos feel super heavy and dangerous. The Friction: • The San Diego mainland rampage part near the end really dragged for me and felt like a totally different movie. • A lot of the new corporate characters honestly felt super thin compared to the original crew. Verdict: Watch for a dark survival adventure. Skip if you want the first movie’s exact magic. Steven Spielberg gives the film a darker and more chaotic tone, turning the island into hostile territory rather than a place of discovery. The film still works in several moments. Jeff Goldblum brings charisma to the lead role, and sequences like the trailer over the cliff show Spielberg's command of tension and staging. Yet the larger scale often replaces awe with noise. The reflection on human arrogance and exploitation remains present, but it feels less sharp than in the original. What makes the sequel limited is not lack of energy, but lack of magic. It expands the world and delivers intensity, but it rarely restores the sense of amazement that made Jurassic Park unforgettable. It proves that making a sequel bigger is not the same as making it deeper.
