Consensus: The script is cliched and badly written. The female characters aren't believable, and the movie is not funny.

Harper plays Theodorus Melville, a mixed-race suburban youth who discovers at an early age that he has a penchant for falling in love with the wrong girls--most often, his friends' girlfriends. Barely surviving college, where he slept with the girlfriend of the football team's star running back, Theodorus eventually settles in New York City with his best friend, whose gorgeous Trinidadian girlfriend, Mona (Sandrine Holt), can't hide her attraction for him. Meanwhile, Theodorus is in the midst of a passionate affair with Frances (Nicole Ari Parker), a firecracker of an actress whose mental stability is questionable. Working as a waiter in a coffee shop, Theodorus befriends the bumbling Samantha (Laurel Holloman), a sweet-natured woman who is married to Gabe (David Moscow), a walking time bomb. By the time that Theodorus has an epiphany which enables him to fully give in and choose his truest love, his philandering ways threaten to catch up with him once and for all. [More]

Reviews for Loving Jezebel
A lighthearted and frothy romantic comedy; a fun and amusing diversion, but little more.
Leaves the audience...with a somewhat empty feeling when all is said and done.
A few mildly amusing moments, but they can't compensate for the annoying obtuseness of the rest.
Somehow manages to squander both an appealing cast and an inviting Manhattan setting.
It's hard to dislike a romantic comedy that's infatuated with the concept of love.
Sometimes entertaining, but is as a package a bit innocuous and lightweight.
Director and writer Kwyn Bader, making his big-screen debut, crafts an appealing story despite falling into the pitfalls often associated with a first-time director.
Captures the embarrassment of foreplay, but it could use a few lessons in the art of seduction.
Kwyn Bader’s debut feature is run-of-the-mill sitcom-y in its pedestrian writing and uninspired direction.
