Boring, Boring. The cinematography was nice (Walter Sallles influenced) and Carlinhos Brown provides a nice sound track but the film just doesn't come together at a quick enough pace. This film also appears to have been shot/scripted for non-Brazilian consumption since the 3 lead characters just don't seem to match their place in life (i.e., 2 sailors and a prostitute).
Alice Braga's auntie Sonia Braga also had two men on the go in "Dona Flor and her Two Husbands", but that movie had much more pazzazz than this one. This is a pretty dour affair and it doesn't amount to too much in the end. It doesn't break new ground in storytelling and neither does it in addressing issues around polyamorism or poverty slumlife and prositution.
Expected much more from it as the story was depicted quite powerfully and went on well...till the ending came suddenly which totally lacked completion ...don't know if that was the idea or the writer/director ran out of ideas
