Lee Grant and Carol Kane star as sisters locked in a bizarre relationship in the cult horror film THE MAFU CAGE (aka DON'T RING THE DOORBELL). After their primatologist father dies in Africa, Ellen (Grant) is forced to care for her disturbed younger sister, Cissy (Kane). Cissy spends much of her time in the companionship of the apes collected by her father, drawing them and occasionally murdering one in a crazed rage. When Ellen, desperate for a relationship with a normal human being, takes up with fellow astronomer David, Cissy becomes even further unhinged with tragic consequences in store. THE MAFU CAGE is an unusual take on the theme of obsessive sisterly love found in thrillers like SISTERS and WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE?. [More]
