There's only one hitch in Gus's business venture: he doles out so much alimony to his ex-wife Lee (Annabella Sciorra)--a continuing education student dating her married English lit professor (William Hurt)--that it keeps him in a financial straitjacket. To relieve himself of the monetary burden and be able to invest in the bowling alley, Gus decides to marry Lee off. First, however, he has the onerous job of finding her "Mr. Right." Gus seeks potential mates for Lee at his job site, at traffic lights and anywhere else he can find them, resulting in a series of hopeless dates for his ex. In the matchmaking process, Gus realizes that Lee's perfect mate is closer than either of them ever suspected. [More]

Reviews for Mr. Wonderful
Without that yeoman cast effort and Dillon's easy charm, Mr. Wonderful could easily be mistaken for Mr. Potatohead.
Mr. Wonderful doesn't aspire to be anything more than it is, and such a simple, uncomplicated presentation, coupled with likable characters, makes this film a fine example of light, romantic entertainment.
One of those films where it's clear to the audience within five minutes what must obviously happen, and clear to the characters only at the end of the story.
