Munich is Spielberg operating at the peak of his craft, turning the aftermath of the 1972 Olympics massacre into a haunting meditation on vengeance, identity, and the cost of violence on the human soul. Eric Bana delivers a career-best performance, slowly unraveling as a man who begins to question everything he's been asked to do. The ensemble around him is flawless. Janusz Kamiński's cinematography is cold and gorgeous, and John Williams' score is among his most restrained and affecting. At nearly three hours, not a single minute feels wasted. This is the rare political thriller that is equally a deeply personal film — one that stays with you long after the credits roll. Essential cinema. "Munich" (2005) is Steven Spielberg excellent and epic movie about events that took place after an infamous and bloody tragedy that happened at Munich Olympic games. I have seen many films about those events itself before, but never about what happened after, which is a very realistic tale of revenge. Directing by Steven Spielberg was excellent in here - "Munich" is a hardly forgettable movie that explores in depth events and people related to a plan to execute those responsible for the tragedy. It's a long film and it's pacing is a bit of a problem - it takes many detours from a main storyline but due to good script, great performances, terrific settings this film is worth rewatching even some 20 years after its release. Overall, "Munich" is an excellent Spielberg movie, his one of the more compelling ones about real events. It is relevant today probably even more then in 2005. But there are other aspects of the film that detracted a little from my enjoyment. For example, the fact that almost everything was filmed in Malta and passed off as countries such as Italy, Greece, or Lebanon when it is clearly not. In addition, there are some members of the group whose role is not clear to me.
