Synopsis: Gangster Mal Keane has made a pile of dough from bootlegging, and with his wealth he thinks he can buy love. When he catches demure Rhoda conning fellow card players in poker game, Mal decides... Gangster Mal Keane has made a pile of dough from bootlegging, and with his wealth he thinks he can buy love. When he catches demure Rhoda conning fellow card players in poker game, Mal decides to help the girl out in return for her affections. She cares for an alcoholic violinist and could benefit from Mal's money. Mal supports both of them and, later, proposes marriage to Rhoda, who accepts. He plans to showcase the violinist in a local performance and wed Rhoda the following day. But Rhoda really loves her musically gifted friend. Then the police want to bring Mal in for ordering the execution of a rival gang's leader. See, Mal has a knack for putting everyone in harm's way. [More]
