Sort of uncomfortable to take this personal look through their eyes. No horror like I had hoped. The play for sympathy of the family is a little too heavy. That man needed help before it ever got so far! What a mess! His family turned a blind eye, and the world paid! I am not so sure how we are to know it happened this way.

i'm really happy to be able to give a movie half a star, I mean the fact that I could sit through this movie which was a PITY PARTY probably written by his father, stating 'DONT BLAME ME OK IM SO SORRY' but didnt give much context as to who Jeff was opposed to some incidents that occurred when he was younger. the bottom line is that his dad was a complete DUMBASS. this is the kind of movie you watch to strictly laugh at the entire time. i'm not even fascinated i the whole 'serial killer' phenomena, just happened to be hanging with some people who were.
oh, and how could I forget? the acting was dreadfulll

This was a different approach to describing how Jeffrey came to be. It was a bit interesting but it left out alot of details.

his father basically had a pity party when he wrote the screen play.... Jesus his father's point of view had nothing interesting going on with it..... its all just him in shell for an hour and a half, not worth the watch.

Anyone buying or renting this movie expecting a gore fest will be disappointed. In fact anyone expecting a half decent film will be too. The script is almost non-existant, the acting ponderous, wooden & frankly terrible, while the 'special effect' used to represent old home movie footage of young Jeff made me wonder if my tv was faulty.

There have been several notably good, or at least competent, films made about real life serial killers, Boston Strangler, 10 Rillington Place, Bundy, Monster to name but a few, unfortunately "Raising JD" isn't in the same league. In short, it stinks.

Straight to video, then straight to yard sale + trash can... 86 minutes of your life that would be better spent doing something else

DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH

A must see for all movie enthusiasts. The phone scene left me breathless. The depth of Scott Cordes's acting prowess set the bar far too high for the rest of the cast. Who knew that landlines in the backyards of houses were commonplace? I was expecting a much more compelling portrayal of Jeffrey Dahmer from Rusty Sneary; instead, I was stuck watching a rather flaccid, lifeless performance. However, it is my opinion that Jeannine Hutchings's emotional anguish more than compensated for Sneary's lackluster big screen debut. The final scene culminates a dramatic 85 minute thrill-ride of questions, answers, and inexplicable plot intricacy.

This movie is terrible. Let's just get that out there right now. From the first scene you can tell that this is a low budget film.

The film is not so much about Jeffrey Dahmer, but about his dad and what happened to him (and his wife) during the time he was arressted and after. The filming is horrible, the film is grainy and the acting is worse than a high school movie project. The only good thing that they do is make me feel like I was actually with his dad the whole time; From the 13 minute scene where he places 5 consecutive phone calls of varying importance to whatever the end of the movie was,I felt like I was right there with him, and I wanted to leave. Not intresting in the least.

If you want something about Jeffrey Dahmer, watch a History Channel special about him. Avoid this movie at all costs.

This movie is a genuine 5 out 5 stinker for sure.

Skipping over the facts of the arrest and crimes of Jeffrey Dahmer almost entirely, it focuses on the reaction of the serial killer's family during the hours and couple of days following Dahmer's initial arrest.

I'll give credit that it was an interesting angle to pursue, however the acting by the entire cast was so poor and pathetic that the movie was laughable. LITERALLY had me and my 13 year old daughter rolling in our seats at the pitiful performances. Most amusing however, was the 1970's porn-flick background music score that accompanied nearly every scene.

Even if you have a "free movie coupon", don't waste the electricity to power up your DVD player on this one guys.

My girlfriend and I rented this stinker because we thought it might give an interesting insight into the mind of one of the most notorious serial-killers of our time.

Instead, we were presented with 90 minutes of the worst acting we had ever seen. The movie looked more like one of those "Crime Stoppers" re-enactments that you see on television. The soundtrack and visuals were horrible. The actors were emotionless and boring.

With a subject that had so many possibilities, the makers of this movie fell flat on their asses with this piece of crap.

If you see this movie...run away from it faster than a young boy running away from a hungry Jeffery Dahmer!

ABSOLUTE CRAP!

I should have of known better since I was renting a random movie from Stop and Shop's "Redbox" but I found out the hard way. This movie was, let's say, not so good. Movies about serial killers are appealing. Moives about why serial killers are serial killers is slightly more appealing. Apparently I have been misled.

The acting in this movie was laughable, especially the role of Dahmer's father, who is unfortunately the main character. The most annoying part though is the teasing. A lot of things are suggested in the movie about Dahmer's past but we either don't find out if their are true or not or we don't learn anything more about them at all. The flashbacks could have been really interesting but instead they were blurry, the audio was weird and they were brief.

The ending is also lame.

The low budget of the film is not a help, and found the photography particularly unappealing. The story isn't bad though at examines a serial killer from a different perspective and that aspect is interesting. The acting is okay.
