08/16/2011 Duchovny's acting range is limited but he is good at playing scuzzbags pretty well (hence why he is good in Californication on Showtime. He really is a scuzzbag). Zalman King's films and short stories are incredibly steamy...for 1992. Today they seem kind of pretentious and contrived. His masterpiece, 9 1/2 Weeks, still serves as a benchmark for pure cinematic eroticism. His Red Shoe Diaries were similar in nature but offered us more a chance to see present day celebrities in more compromising roles, which is a good thing (There's a Red Shoe Diary episode where Matt LeBlanc does a full frontal scene. Yikes). This screen adaptation was merely a jumped up Red Shoe episode. Entertaining and erotic yet predictable. A good thing to watch with your girlfriend or wife right before the nipple makes its first appearance :-) See more 04/11/2011 Woman is unable to cope with having two lovers, so she slits her wrists. Hard to feel much sympathy here. Launching pad for cable series culminates in rather laughable settling of two men's differences on the basketball court.
