Bill T. @BillTreakle Feb 1 “East Of Shanghai “ This movie starring Henry Kendall and Joan Berry 2 British actors from 1931 was one of Alfred Hitchcock’s better earlier movies. The essence of the story is a everyday regular husband and wife living just an average your life get some real good news when they receive a large inheritance making them wealthy overnight. And this is the story of how coming into instant wealth does not necessarily translate into a better life or solidifying a love that you had when you were not wealthy. In essence the grass isn’t always greener on the other side of the fence. But I love the performance especially of Joan Berry what a beautiful woman from that era who retired relatively early to choose the lifestyle of marriage and family. I thought this was a pretty good one if you’re an Alfred Hitchcock fan you’d definitely want to include this one in your filmography. See more Horror fan 4 @Horrorfan4life Jan 8 It has its moments. It was a dated almost voyeuristic film about being and average Brit couple who gets money, only to travel the world and lose each other in temptation. Of course, the refind their love and come back in the end. See more 09/16/2020 Hitchcock's Rich and Strange has a decent premise: some sudden and unexpected wealth comedically makes a bored married couple lose their sense of right and wrong. It's a classic corruption-of-money fable that's only real issue is in the tone. Most of the time, it's a fairly straightforward screwball rom-com…except when it unceremoniously dips into extreme and unwanted drama. Still, when it's foot is firmly in the bumbling idiocy of the couple, it's a good time…and the shipwreck is surprising and cool. See more 03/17/2019 Odd story but technically inspiring.
