Prepare to find out just how much influence Famous Monsters Magazine really had on contemporary sci-fi cinema as filmmaker Paul Davids presents a playful look at how yesterday's fanboys became today's blockbuster directors. Critic Reviews for The Sci-Fi Boys

Doesn't work as even a broad look at sci-fi film history ... nor does it work completely as a tribute to [Forrest] Ackerman thanks to all the additional figures represented.

Short and sweet and packed with a real affection for classic sci-fi movie-makers, The Sci-Fi Boys should be a treat to anyone who adores the genre.

This documentary is an affectionate look at the science fiction and horror movies of the 30s, 40s, and 50s; the people who made said films, as well as a tribute to Forrest J. Ackerman, who founded and edited "Famous Monsters of Filmland", a magazine on the subject of sci-fi and horror films which most of the filmmakers featured in this documentary latched onto as boys. I liked this documentary, it was nice to see how passionate these now famous directors and make-up artists were even as kids about films and monster movies.
