Does the world need the sequel we're assuredly going to get? No, but I'd rather watch Sherlock Holmes 2 than, say, the upcoming Short Circuit reboot. It's the little things that count.

Guy's flaky Sherlock on acid slapstick yarn mixes the mystical and macabre, with its own insane inner logic that might be a headscratcher even for Holmes. So best to just savor Downey's cartoonish conspiracy theorist and Victorian busybody gumshoe.

I know that it wasn't advertised as a comedy, but Downey usually finds a way to interject some laughs into his movies, but there are none here.

A disappointing DVD package of Guy Ritchie's slick but giddily inspired Sherlock Holmes reboot, but Robert Downey Jr., like Hans Zimmer's score, still impresses.

...the whole show is visually stunning. Look, listen, and enjoy without thinking about it too much. (Blu-ray Edition)
