06/28/2012 Signs of the Time is a weird little documentary chronicling the evolution of umpire hand signs in baseball. It's a bit all over the place, starting out in a modern day umpire training school, zooming back to deaf and mute player Dummy Hoy in the late 1800s, takes a tangent to a high school where a team is learning sign language and everywhere in between. The problem is no one actually agrees on where the hand signs came from. This revelation doesn't come until late in the hour film, though. I feel the film is too long and too short, all at the same time since it's hard to get the feeling the production was actually thought out in any meaningful way.
