Suddenly, he must confront his Native American background when his biological mother contacts for the first time. Jesse travels to her reservation only to discover she has just died under suspicious circumstances. While mourning the mother he never knew, Jesse becomes acquainted with his maternal grandfather and with a Lakota woman.
