In the South Pacific island of Makatea, career-driven magazine editor Robin Monroe (Anne Heche) is on a week-long vacation getaway with her boyfriend, Frank Martin (David Schwimmer). A work assignment in neighboring Tahiti requires Robin to hire a cargo plane piloted by the cantankerous Quinn Harris (Harrison Ford). But when a powerful storm forces Quinn to make an emergency landing on a nearby deserted island, the dissimilar pair learn to set aside their differences in order to find rescue.

Cheesy and forgettable. Lots of star power but not much story power. A few funny lines here and there, though often delivered in inappropriate moments that sucked the wind out of the drama. The pirates were the keystone cops of pirates. Schwimer was given the same role he played in Friends. All up barely passes for entertainment.

1998 was wild. What a casting trifecta: Heche, Schwimmer and Ford, as well as Temuera Morrison. Whomsoever nailed this together was huffing Y2K memes using Netscape Navigator. It is all-too easy to criticise this film. Directing Schwimmer to not be Schwimmer: fail. Heche and Schwimmer kissing: fail. Beautiful scenery improved by the story and actors: fail. Make Heche and Schwimmer likeable: fail. Make a better film than the Star Wars Christmas Special: fail. Make Ford wear a headset in his aeroplane: fail. This is the first time I have seen this film. I watched it on free-to-air having seen it in the TV guide a few hours before it aired and, honestly, it is the first time I have known of its existence. I wish I could turn back time by six days, seven nights.

This movie kept my attention while I was watching it, but it limped along from one incident to the next without any real tension holding the story together. The two leads were likeable enough, but didn't have much chemistry together so it wasn't believable that they would fall in love. Not one of Harrison Ford's better movies. He is much better as an action movie hero than a romantic lead. Overall, I would say the script and the direction were weak. I wasn't expecting much, but I was hoping for more.
