  • Wide eyed Marty O'Neil (Lee Holmes - EROSION, THE SALTON SEA) takes to the road on a quest to give his life meaning. When his motorcycle breaks down outside an adult bookstore in small town America, Marty takes a job at the store to earn money for repairs. While struggling to understand the gruff owner (Mark Boone Junior - BATMAN BEGINS, MEMENTO), Marty befriends Elmore (Melvin Van Peebles - SWEET SWEETBACK'S BAAD ASSSS SONG, PANTHER), an old beat poet who frequents the shop, and becomes enamored with Mary Jane (Jenette Goldstein - DUPLEX, X-MEN: NEXT DIMENSION), the cynical stripper who stars in the store's peep show.
  • Between hours at work, Marty bonds with Bav (Meredith Scott Lynn - LEGALLY BLOND, A NIGHT AT THE ROXBURY), a tattoo artist/ aspiring business guru who becomes fascinated with video interviews Marty has been collecting at the bookstore. Sensing a financial opportunity, Bav transforms them into a film called THE FREAK SHOW, which becomes a small town hit and catches the attention of Tex Scram (Maxwell Caulfield - GREASE 2, EMPIRE RECORDS), a charming yet nasty used car dealer who wants to cover Marty's movie along with everything else he owns in town. Battle lines are drawn and humor ensues as Mrs. Maplethorpe (Kirsten Nelson - WAR OF THE WORLDS, MRS. HARRIS), a conservative housewife who wants to save Marty's soul, inevitably forces Marty to discover the true meaning of his quest: what is SMUT?
