Miss Slater makes a four-square heroine of unrelenting sincerity; a sturdy ingenue, she is great fun to look at but hardly a live wire.

Top CriticThe Girl of Steel deserves a better movie, and a better actress to play her. Slater is very cute and looks good in the tights, but is far too wooden. Plot is utterly ridiculous.
