In the 1920s, actor George Valentin (Jean Dujardin) is a bona fide matinee idol with many adoring fans. While working on his latest film, George finds himself falling in love with an ingenue named Peppy Miller (Bérénice Bejo) and, what's more, it seems Peppy feels the same way. But George is reluctant to cheat on his wife with the beautiful young actress. The growing popularity of sound in movies further separates the potential lovers, as George's career begins to fade while Peppy's star rises.

“The Artist “ I found this movie which is a movie that came out in 2011 as a silent movie done in black and white to be quite good. A lot of the actors that I did not know in this film with the exception of John Goodman. But the sign up film was done very well easy to follow along with the storyline love the little doggie in the picture he kind of stole the show a lot in my opinion. This is a story of love and opportunity and life. Even though this film was done in black and white the cinematography is done very well. HD quality indeed even though it is in black and white this is something different that hasn't been done in many years. But very well done and I recommend this film to all those who remember the glory days of silent films.

The Artist est un magnifique hommage à l’histoire du cinéma. Le film réussit à recréer l’univers du muet avec élégance et sensibilité, tout en rendant hommage à une époque révolue. Il permet à la nouvelle génération de comprendre, à travers une fiction touchante, ce que signifiait le passage du muet au cinéma parlant. Jean Dujardin livre une performance exceptionnelle : par ses expressions faciales et sa gestuelle, il transmet des émotions puissantes sans dire un mot. C’est ce qui rend son interprétation si juste et marquante. La musique et les effets sonores viennent sublimer le tout et nous plongent complètement dans cette ambiance rétro. La fin, pleine d’émotions, est une réussite totale — intense, libératrice et parfaitement dosée. C’est un film hors du commun, à la fois original dans sa forme et universel dans son propos. Bon, cela dit… on comprend aussi pourquoi la parole a fini par s’imposer au cinéma.
