Jacob L. @DerpyIsMLG 2d Reviewed 5/17/2022 I'm seeing a trend here. With these last 3, they're often considered some of Marvel's weakest entries, but I'm really enjoying all of them. Thor is surprising amazing. It's got a few problems, like sind characters being a bit underdeveloped, especially Sif, the Warriors Three, and Laufey, but the characters that are interesting, Thor and Loki, are really good. Kudos to Tom Hiddleston, great job with Loki. There are a few bits of the movie where it drags a little, but for the most part, it's fairly consistent. T @lyatony Feb 5 Not a perfect movie, but there's a perfect Thor for certain. Thor islike he actually is supposed to be, unlike other... most recent Thor movies... There's character growth, deep understanding of the villain, and, ngl, the darker atmosphere hits very well for Thor. They also hit the nail on the shakespearean tone, it actually feels like I'm watching medieval sceneries. Of course there's better Marvel origins, but this one feels proper enough. For a while, I’d considered it one of the weaker MCU entries, but there’s actually a lot to like here. Chris Hemsworth is great in the lead, and it definitely helps that he’s backed up by an absolutely stacked supporting cast. The space scenes have some really strong visuals, and I genuinely dug the soundtrack. I don’t have any major issues with the film overall. That said, the Frost Giants are pretty lame as villains, and most of the action is fairly dull in my opinion. What ultimately holds it back for me, though, is that I’ve always preferred Marvel’s more grounded movies over the more cosmic, otherworldly ones. I’m much more of a fan of Iron Man and some of the Captain America films than the Thor or Guardians entries. Still, this is an enjoyable movie and an undeniably important one for the future of the MCU. See more Read all reviews
