The flame that burns twice as bright burns twice as fast is perhaps twice as true in Hollywood. The remarkable and multi-faceted talent of such icons as James Dean is immortalized in the films they leave behind.

On January 22, 2008, the entertainment world was shocked once again when one of its brightest young stars tragically died at just 28 years old. Heath Ledger left behind his beautiful daughter, Matilda Rose, a legion of fans and a growing film legacy that includes a most-remarkable performance as The Joker in The Dark Knight, a role for which he posthumously earned both Academy and Golden Globe awards for Best Supporting Actor.

Born and raised in Perth, Australia, it wasn�t long into young adulthood before Ledger�s talent, heartthrob good looks and six-foot-one stature soon appeared on popular soap programs Down Under.

With a star destined to rise quickly, Ledger soon played a lead role in the feature film Two Hands, which received critical acclaim around the globe. After moving to the U.S., two small but well-received film roles led to his turn in 10 Things I Hate About You, setting his course to stardom.

Determined to steer away from pin-up roles, Ledger proved himself a heavy-weight in Monster�s Ball, a performance that led to him being cast as repressed gay cowboy Ennis Del Mar in Brokeback Mountain-a simultaneously controversial and captivating portrayal, earning his first Oscar nomination. It was on �set that Ledger met and fell in love with co-star Michelle Williams.

Although Ledger was media shy, this appealing documentary captures his spirit and his legacy through numerous interviews with him, his family and friends and footage and off-screen video footage.
