When David (Luke Wilson) and Amy's (Kate Beckinsale) car breaks down, they have little choice but to spend the night at a remote hotel. The couple entertain themselves by watching low-budget slasher movies on TV -- until they realize that the horrifying images they see were recorded in the room in which they are staying. With hidden cameras capturing their every move, David and Amy must find a way out before they become the latest stars in another film in the series of snuff films.

Kit out the Bates Motel with surveillance cameras, replace Anthony Perkins with the ineffectual Frank Whaley, and you'd have the location for this irritatingly cheapjack snuff-horror thriller, starring Luke Wilson and Kate Beckinsale as a depressed couple

Wow. This was actually super cool concept. Kept you on our toes. Luke and Katie- Katie is super bad. Like so hot insane. But all around very nice- recommend. Scary motels that have a death wish

I’d give Vacancy a 5/10. It’s a fairly mid-tier horror thriller that has a solid concept but doesn’t fully capitalize on its potential. The premise starts off strong and does a good job setting up tension, especially with the isolated motel setting, which naturally lends itself to suspense. However, the execution feels inconsistent. While there are moments of genuine unease and a few effective scares, a lot of the tension is undercut by predictable beats and uneven pacing. It builds atmosphere well at times, but doesn’t sustain it throughout the film. The performances are serviceable and keep things moving, but none of the characters really stand out in a memorable way. Overall, Vacancy is watchable and has its moments, but it doesn’t do enough to rise above average in the horror-thriller space

This was a well acted and disturbing thriller. Beckinsale and Wilson are perfect as a couple that is in the absolute dying throes of a relationship, who are frighteningly cast together in order to spare themselves a horrific outcome. Frank Whaley is perfectly cast as the creepiest of the creepy. This movie is dark and riveting.
