Bollywood's version of Stepmom. As usual for Bollywood, it was very dramatic with extremely over-the-top dramatic music in almost every scene...not sure why they have to do that all the time. BUT...I found this one of the better Bollywood attempts. Good actors. Good story. Actually choked me up at times..

Directed by Siddharth P. Malhotra, this movie is based on the story plot "Stepmom", and reunites actresses Kajol and Kareena Kapoor (who both give stunning performances). This movie gives a different, and highly interesting depiction of two individuals who are brought together to bridge a significant role in a family. Unlike the American version, this gives a 360 degree outlook on each character?s perspective and thoughts upon the choices that they make, and have endured. Maya is a divorced, and devoted, mother of three children. Her ex-husband Aman is a photographer, and shares familial responsibilities with Maya. He begins seeing Shreya, an up and rising fashion designer, and wants to introduce her to his children. Stricken with a terminal illness, Maya confides in Shreya and asks for her support that would ensure the future and safety of her children and family.
Great cast- Kajol, Arjun Rampal, Kareena Kapoor, Nominath Ginsberg, Aachal Munjal, and Diya Sonecha. Worth seeing!

Buena pelĂcula para ver en familia, con un toque de historias ya antes vistas pero con el estilo bollywoodense que conmueve.

A and J saw there first bollywood today. A said she would have rated it 100% if anyone had asked her. And, we watched and danced to the music scene 2X. Bollywood is a rite of passage!

Heart tugging is what it is!
A remake of 'stepmom'(they bought rights unlike other indian films),so nothing much there.
Brilliant screenplay, fantastic range of emotions and very powerful performances. People talk about Hrithik,Abhishek,Ranbir, but Arjun is no less, his performances are becoming stronger by the day. Kareena shows us why she's the finest actress in the recent crop of actresses, and Kajol certainly delivers the best performance by a female actor this year!
Cut the crap, this is one story well executed, brilliant in terms of its emotional quotient and story telling capability!

We are family was an hour too long and a poor attempt at a rom-com, but then again that is what bollywood cinema is all about.

If you can get past the subtitles (they are needed) the story is a good one and has a feel good ending.

hats off to Mr Karan Johar for producing or Directing such great movies, a very sweet and emotional tale of a family, this screenplay is adapted from "STEPMOM". i loved this movie, one of the best this year. music is nice not great though. i love the sonh AANKHON MEIN NEENDIEN...... really deep and moving performance by Kajol, she is mindblowing. Kareena Kapoor was decent too. love them both, slightly good performance by Arjun Rampal. kids were good too. some scenes can bring tears in your eyes though. superb movie, a must watch. Karan Johar is an absolute master of his craft. Worth watching film..... very emotional and family-ine.

The basic premise and even chunks of sequences and dialogues are taken from Chris Columbus? ?Stepmom? . The actors chip in with power-house performances. It?s an urban fable told with subtlety and a softness of touch which completely avoids excesses of emotions until the last ostensibly gut-wrenching finale when the narration gets excessively melodramatic. A song supposedly a tribute to Elvis Presley's "JAIL HOUSE ROCK" makes me believe that nothing is sacred any more..! NOTHING !!!
A good watch at the weekend..
