Movie Info

Two interesting figures in offbeat cinema -- director Matt Cimber (who was married to Jayne Mansfield and directed her final film before going on to a handful of expressive blaxploitation efforts) and screenwriter Robert Thom (who wrote Wild in the Streets and Bloody Mama) -- teamed up for this unusual portrait of one woman's descent into madness. Straddles an exploitation line in telling a simple tale with an unexpected degree of pretense and, if only occasionally, artistry.

Audience Reviews for Witch Who Came From the Sea

The initial disturbance for me with this film was that I couldn't help but see Millie Perkins as Anne Frank. After that, the only reason I can think of as to why it was banned for so long is because it is so incredibly boring. Ok, so it is quite nasty and deserves it's 'Video nasty' label, but i can't help but think its reputation precedes it somewhat. I can't think of anyone I'd recommended it to, if you're into these films the chances are you've already seen it.
