Jimmie R @Jimmiedbst Feb 8 I’m re-watching after years and I’m pretty sure I noticed back when I watched it years ago, but I can’t help but be irritated by the fact that s2e4 has a scene where Nick swims from the Abigail at night, naked and ends up onshore like he just went for a refreshing dip. Then later on in the same episode the Abigail is anchored in the same place and the people who attempted to hijack the Abigail shoot the captain and aren’t sure if they hit him or not so the person that has shot him says if I didn’t get him hypothermia will. Then there’s a scene during the day where the captain is shivering and going through stages of hypothermia when Nick just swam at night naked how stupid. There’s been a lot of things like this but then again in s2e7 one of the worst story logic faults occur when Madison locks Celia in the cellar where she keeps her family of walkers, after Celia clearly unlocks the door herself with the keys but they somehow they end up in Madison‘s possession. The story drags endlessly before arriving at any meaningful point, and the characters’ reactions often feel illogical and frustrating. Travis, in particular, is written as an unintelligent character, and the performance fails to feel convincing. Nick’s death was, frankly, a relief, as his portrayal was fundamentally flawed. Overall, the family is presented as more destructive than helpful—despite their intentions, their attempts to assist others consistently seem to cause more harm than good. The show overall is a 5/10. It still feels like we are in the first season of the show. A couple of the characters I really enjoy, but are written so poorly. Slow paced. I understand and welcome story/character development, but not to the point of stagnation. I found myself extremely frustrated, bored, and confused at times. Hopefully, the next season is more enjoyable. Can't wait for season 4 when things supposedly shift to a more Morgan centric story. See more Gloria B @RT79596356 Jul 23 Just as good as the first season See more Charlie v @cvonpeterffy 12/18/2024 Exact Rating: 8.2/10 Fear the Walking Dead’s sophomore season mostly succeeds in expanding upon the first season’s characters, the West Coast’s and Mexico’s apocalyptically driven circumstances, and the human flaws allowed to flourish in such lawless situations. There’s a bit more cheese this time around—more sentimentality in the wrong places—and episodes such as “We All Fall Down” feel a bit like isolated filler in their focus on characters that don’t affect the main group overall. But the rapid change of settings, from the Abigail on sea to La Colonia in Tijuana, the Clarks and co. discover a variety of new perils and foes without much time for breath. Chris’s arc and overall demise is poignant, as the anger gained from his parents’ divorce and his (divorce-instilled) inability to make friends twists him into the mini-psycho he almost became, only to be killed by his own recklessness in the end. The core Clarks grow and separate, as they each heal the traumas they dealt to one another whilst coming to terms with how that past influences the present destruction they cause. “Elena was right. We destroy everything,” a bloodied Nick tells Madison as their then-current residence is destroyed by their hands, only for him to inadvertently destroy La Colonia later on. While missteps are apparent, Fear’s second story takes the time to establish who these characters are and what they do; survivors who don’t know the difference between good and bad anymore beyond saving their loved ones at any cost.
