Based on the best-selling Stephen King novel of the same name, "Under the Dome" follows the residents of Chester's Mill, Maine, as they find their small town suddenly cut off from the rest of the world by a transparent dome. While some people start to panic, a small group of citizens -- led by Army veteran Dale Barbara -- tries to maintain some semblance of peace and order, while also attempting to learn the truth about the mysterious barrier, the purpose behind it -- and, most importantly, how to escape it.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Under the Dome's third season introduces some new science fiction elements to kickstart interest in this petri dish of civilization, but the series' gonzo narrative otherwise runs out of fresh directions to go.

Under the Dome limped toward the finish, all right. But it's because the show shot itself in the foot. Go to Full Review

This is all derivative, of course, cribbing from The Matrix and (as always) Lost, but this show is always more fun when it leans into its sci-fi elements. Go to Full Review

We're left with the show revived once again, an Under The Dome redux, as this week's episode title puts it. And damn it if it hasn't succeeding in sparking my interest yet again. Go to Full Review

Bridget W @Iwatchalldamovies Oct 1 Just started s3 e5 and Im not sure how much more of this garbage I can stomach. You have completely lost the plot. Season 1 was intriguing, Season 2 was eh Season 3 is just trash. No wonder it was canceled. See more Manoj K @ManojKumar Aug 19 i was wondering when this nightmare will end. just wanted to finish it as i have the habit of finish the series when started. I wonder how low and pathetic can the story telling be. See more Gores w May 30 I'd rather drink vomit See more The Brown D Mar 19 Well, I have been watching season 1 and 2, and thought they are alright...but season 3 the last 5-6 parts, are soooo boring, so american love cliché, Red is of course getting her Barbie back and the fight up to it, sooooo looonnng... 🙄🥱. And a kiss solved everything...🤣 American happy endings are sooo crappy. Junior also goes back, because Christine doesn't respect him either.. after all. We need less americans movies on this earth.. less happy ending, because that doesn't reflect real life. See more SkyRo P @TheMovieSearch 11/29/2024 After watching the first two seasons of Under the Dome, I was thrilled to dive into the third and final season, eager to continue the captivating journey I had become so invested in. However, it quickly became clear why this season would be the last. The show continues to follow the familiar cast as they navigate the bizarre circumstances enveloping their town. Initially, we were intrigued by the mysterious phenomenon, but instead of preserving the enigma surrounding the characters, the narrative took a turn towards a convoluted plot involving an alien possessing a woman, which ultimately led to the characters hibernating in a fabricated world within a cocoon. This shift is likely a key reason for the show's cancellation. While I didn’t outright dislike the third season, it didn’t ignite the same passion in me as the first two had. I felt a sense of closure, as though the story had run its course. As a dedicated fan, I was relieved when the series wrapped up after the third season. It struggled to maintain the momentum built by its predecessors and left me feeling unsatisfied rather than eager for more. I had hoped to witness significant character development, but the resolution was less than fulfilling. The storytelling, once so compelling, seemed to wane, losing touch with Stephen King’s original vision for the characters and their arcs. It became evident that the series needed to reassess its direction. See more steve d 07/26/2020 Gone are most of the interesting charecters as the show closes with a confused wimpier.
