Viking Ragnar Lothbrok is a young farmer and family man who is frustrated by the policies of Earl Haraldson, his local chieftain who sends his Viking raiders east to the Baltic states and Russia, whose residents are as poor as the Norsemen. Ragnar wants to head west, across the ocean, to discover new civilizations. With assistance from his friend Floki, Ragnar builds a faster, sleeker fleet of boats to help him make it to the Western world. Through the years Ragnar, who claims to be a direct descendant of the god Odin, continues to struggle with Earl until the two face each other in a final battle for supremacy. Following that, Ragnar goes on a search for new lands to conquer.

Though Vikings tries hard, unfortunately it can't hold a flaming torch to the big medieval bad boy on the block [Game of Thrones]. Go to Full Review

It deals mostly with one family, rather than the dozens that populate the world of GoT - the show is as good, if not better, at a lot of elements familiar to fans of George RR Martin's epic. Go to Full Review

The plotting and characterisation are simple going on simplistic, but business picks up as Ragnar takes the boys off to northeast England in episode two, and the whole thing has a drive and seriousness of purpose Go to Full Review

Swooped in from out of nowhere and, in a manner befitting the actual Vikings of yore, seized the title of Most Metal Show on Television Go to Full Review

The show's true merit lies in stunning Irish sets, a phenomenal cast, and an engaging story in main character Ragnar Lothbrok. Go to Full Review

Anna K @Annapage Jan 4 Absolutely fabulous See more Jade G @Jad3Gr3nad3 Dec 3 You can really tell that "News article people" don't have a clue what they are talking about just by the reviews here and other shows, from the very first episode I knew this was going be a smash hit. I remember getting to the scene with Ragnar and Borjn walking through the forest and 8 minutes in I turned to my partner and I said "This is going to be huge, theres something really special about this show" See more Tesha S @RT18120126 Jul 26 Entire series is a masterpiece! Bringing history alive. Each episode is a history lesson as well as a remarkable journey in time! See more Jackie M @RT44258552 May 21 This show is an absolute masterpiece! The creator did a really good job on this show. The team that research for the old versions of modern languages or death languages is insane. Old english, Old Russian, Old French (I can understand about 5% of it which is way different than modern French) The characters are great. The story begins where the Viking invasion starts in England around 763 (if i'm right). The story continue until the 10th - 11th century (season 6) where historical figures like Prince Oleg of Kiev relative to the legendary Riourik, Eric the Red which discover Greenland or Iceland. Otherwise notable kings from the Frank era and Anglo-Saxon era were portrayed in the show speaking there own languages at the time (pretty cool and interesting). Battles are just insane and well choreographed. You just wanna watch more of them. The Great Heathen Army and the battle following it is mind-blowing (the Battle of Paris as well). The show might not follow the exact timeline of History regarding to some character but they fit well in the purpose of the show. 🥰 See more Daniel N @RT24087858 Apr 14 One of the greatest TV shows of all time. Perfect casting, perfect writing, amazing acting and great storytelling. Travis Fimmel as Ragnar is sensational. What a performance!
