gungi T @WhatWhere Oct 5, 2026 Frankenstein thrives on its Oedipal themes and the tension surrounding the characters' incestuous and taboo associations. Consequently, the monster serves as a locus of sexual fantasies and the ill omen that these desires portend. Dr. Frankenstein, having lost his wife, seeks to create an undead being, but what is born is a brute lacking in intelligence. His daughter, determined to fulfil her father's vision, gives birth to her creation, effectively casting the test subject, and by extension the father-doctor, as inferior. In doing so, she fulfils her own fantasy by having sex with her creation. However, despite taking control of her destiny, her agency remains unclear as she is unable to control the consequences of her actions. Rosalba Neri's stage presence oozes aristocratic charisma, charged with devilish desire and eroticism.
