Playwright/screenwriter Meade Roberts worked closely with distinguished playwright Tennessee Williams. In the early '60s, Roberts adapted two of Williams' plays to the screen, The Fugitive Kind (1960) and Summer and Smoke (1961). In addition to writing, Roberts occasionally worked as a character actor on-stage and in two John Cassavetes films during the mid-'70s.
