I grew up with an obsession with the first world war and the aces of that war I love this movie me and my family watch at least once a year

It was an ambitious movie with a lot of good qualities. But the dialogue, camera angles, pacing... it just didn't seem to gel.

Couldn't get into it. Switched off after half an hour. I was hoping for an action packed war movie about a WW1 flying ace, not a poorly acted sudsy soap opera. The overly loud score killed the dogfight scenes. Maybe it got better, but I wasn't interested in waiting.

I've seen much, much worse. If you like WWI, The Imperial Reich, snazzy German uniforms, vintage airplanes, dogfights, Pour Le Merite, etc., and a dashing aristocratic war hero, it's worth a watch.
