I saw the Billy Bob Thornton remake quite a while bback and enjoyed, and as usual with remakes its diferent in take to this one, and to be honest, while this is a good film, the way story goes in remake was better while going in a diferent place. this film though ceretainly was a sign of british filmmaking then, Ian Carmichael and Terry Thomas work well together and some good humour coming through especially when eventual tables are turned,

This fabulous film is available on DVD at last, twinned with another Alaister Sim classic, THE GREEN MAN. But, the star of this film is the dapper TERRY-THOMAS. Every scene he is in is superb. From the suave cad in the first half of the film to the flustered toff in the second, this is one of his finest performances and stands up to repeat viewings due to his expressive faces and masterful comic timing. I hear there is going to be a Hollywood remake of this film, which will be a huge mistake as there has been no one like T-T since. I recommend anyone who is a fan of British comedy to see this classic or you will forever be crying 'hard cheese'!

This is the original school for scoundrels movie not to get confused with the remake. This movie stars some well known actors, but for some reason I just couldn't get into this movie, and got bored with it. Maybe I'll give it another chance one day.

nice guys finish last... or do they? alastair sim has a minor role in this social study/comedy about the lesson of life... how to woo women. it shows that in the end honesty is the best policy but there's still that initial game that is life... so nice guys finish last to an extent? regardless... it starts off slow and gets better as it goes along and while funny in some places is dull in others. ian carmichael does a good job as henry palfrey... the loser come casanova but its just light-hearted entertainment at the end of the day... don't expect anything magnificent
