It's just a serial killers fan service, from the détectives that are perfectly incompétent, the usual tech stuff that is ridiculous and -spoiler- scene when thé killer enters sigourney's appartement.... It was very well acted and directed and so on. The opening was good as was the continuing story. My only gripe was that it was a thriller first and foremost. I was expecting a more serious script, given that it's about serial killers, but the acting was wooden and too soulless. Sigourney Weaver and Holly Hunter were OK, but this was far below their capabilities. Some 80's films are a bit par for the course. Just not gritty enough, this was no exception. Sure the cast is great but there are no characters, the plotting is slow and laborious, and it's trying to be a silence of the lambs clone but it's got none of the charm or style. Although I liked Copy Cat just as much and the cast was fantastic! This is the type of movie that I have missed seeing in movie theaters in recent years: strong ensemble casts(with movie stars), good quality across the board.
