Did You Hear About the Morgans?

Critics Consensus

It gets a certain amount of mileage out of the inherent likability of its stars, but with an unfunny script and a lack of onscreen chemistry, Did You Hear About the Morgans? falls flat.

Movie Info

Highly successful Manhattan couple, Meryl and Paul Morgan, have almost-perfect lives-except for one notable failure - their dissolving marriage. But the turmoil of their romantic lives is nothing compared to what they are about to experience when they witness a murder and become targets of a contract killer. The Feds, protecting their witnesses, whisk away the Morgans from their beloved New York to a tiny town in Wyoming, and a relationship that was on the rocks threatens to end completely in the Rockies-- unless, in their new BlackBerry-free lives, the Morgans can slow down the pace and rekindle the passion.

The movie is not very original - a couple with a troubled marriage being forced to confront their issues in an unusual circumstance. If you are looking for light humour, this movie fits the bill

Even the likeability of Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant can't save this. They don't have any chemistry and there is nothing funny in the script. Do yourself a favour and just skip it.

Boring, bad acting, and not funny

I am aware that this movie had really bad reviews, but I'll write here my opinion regardless of what was written before. This romantic comedy directed and written by Marc Lawrence was not as bad as most of the critics want you to think. Major complaints were about the acting... hmmmm... Golden Globe winners Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker are there as Paul and Meryl Morgan... and I don't think that their acting was below the average... they portrayed a recently separated New York power couple on the verge of divorce just well enough for a positive review! And together with the supporting roles from Sam Elliott, Academy Award winner Mary Steenburgen, Elisabeth Moss, and Wilford Brimley it was hard to say that the acting wasn't satisfactory! (I know that Sarah Jessica Parker was nominated for a Golden Raspberry Award as Worst Actress for her performance in this film but I can't see it why, even as I have to add that I am not a great fan of her...). Nothing special, but enjoyable to watch!
