Eric G 07/16/2018 This is the best baseball documentary ever. "Bull Durham" is a better movie and "Sugar" is comparable, but this is the real deal. Not as dramatic as "Hoop Dreams" but this is informative and entertaining. Caveat being that I LOVE baseball... and good movies. See more Jim F 04/02/2016 this documentary about the life of minor league ball players focused on the 1990s Indianapolis Indians. The most amazing part was being told a AAA player makes $40,000 a year, while a MLB player makes 80,000 a week. it's crazy. ups and downs, you love some guys and hate others. if you like baseball it's worth getting See more Kevin L 06/24/2011 A good inside look a minor league baseball with The Milwaukee Brewer's AAA farm team The Indianapolis Indians. This documentary follows several player's and their families as they struggle with injuries, trades and being called up to the Bigs and then sent back down. This movie is worth a look for any serious baseball fans. See more Mike C 04/13/2011 The not-so-glamorous lives of minor league baseball players. Heading to the Royals game on Saturday, this seemed like a nice watch. Plus the movie Sugar and Josh Hamilton's book touched on the minors so why not learn more!? The documentary in all it's low production value glory, flollows the Brewers AAA team out of Indianapolis and features a young Marco Scutaro (looks like he had a big game for the Red Sox the other day...if there is such a thing this season). And first draft pick Kyle Peterson is also in there but evidently ends up as an ESPN analyst after battling injuries. These guys are definitely working class. Really, the major leaguers are as well they just get paid a shit ton of money so it pays for itself. I think we take for granted the plays the big leaguers make on a daily basis, but really they're quite exceptional. Even the triple A guys look bad compared to those guys. So a movie like this makes me respect the stars more for having the skills and presumably climbing their way through the ranks. Finally, just kind of a neat production. Even in the minors, you get your big fans...like the lady who makes different cookies for each player, and the radio guys, newspaper guys, vendors, etc. It's all honest work even if it's not all that spectacular. That a few of the guys will end up as big stars I suppose is just a little added bonus. See more Frankie N 02/10/2011 Great insight into the reality of baseball. See more Todd D 09/26/2010 This is a very nicely done documentary. I tried not to like it but was unable to do so. The director did a fantastic job See more Read all reviews
