A well-measured docu-character study ...
In Birders, by contrast, nature is one big entrancing show; a world of tweets without "tweets."
An engrossing tour of this little-known subculture and unlikely habitat in the center of densely populated Manhattan.
Birders vividly captures the distinctive colors and markings of a vast number of bird species and the equally individualized personalities of those watching them within the confines of Central Park.
[A] revelatory little film ...
[A] slight but handsome nature documentary.
Bird watchers will find affirmation and even explanation for their avocation. People who can't tell a towhee from a titmouse will still wonder at the beauty of it all.
It is a relatively short but luxurious film about birds and the people who watch them, and the way that nature finds a place in the city, and in its citizens.
Kimball, behind the lens, captures extraordinary images of these birds (he lists them, by the way, in the credits). Equally enrapturing are the birders themselves.
Birders makes a wealth of species even more readily available, and close-up.
Visually splendid doc has a narrow scope but will charm bird-lovers.
