Miguel @RT05785172 03/04/2024 Not even a B movie. A well put together cheesy B action movie can be a great watch. This is a blue print on how to NOT make a B movie. The writers have simple non imaginative minds, the sound editor needs to be in prison and the choreography director should be working at WalMart. See more 12/25/2020 I saw this movie last night and honestly I can’t remember a thing about it. Other than the usual the acting is bad, the story is not memorable, with a messy script and bad pacing. It has a lot of familiar faces but slower on action than you would expect. I forgettable B-movie with a decent B movie cast. Alas, a modicum is unfortunately too great a demand for a film such as Blood of Redemption, and it takes little time before this is clearly established. The production values for Blood of Redemption are incredibly poor. With such a small-scaled story, Blood of Redemption isolates its narrative to a matter of a few rooms and outdoor settings. It can't afford anything else and won't spend its limited budget on enough action to distract from this. As a result, Blood of Redemption is essentially a feature length YouTube quality film without enough gimmicks to actually carry it. With direct-to-DVD films like Blood of Redemption, the only thing that audiences are looking out for is decent action at the very least. The choreography in Blood of Redemption is not bad, but there is minimal action over the course of the film. This is ridiculous because there are three cast members who are notorious for working within action films and only 82 minutes of running time, yet director Giorgio Serafini insists on using so little of it. In actual fact, he spends more time telling the story. There are a bunch of arbitrary stock characters in Blood of Redemption whom nobody could care less about, and the attempt to fit all their relevance into the narrative serves as little more than a scattered distraction from the lack of any actual story. Giorgio Serafini is somehow deluded into the belief that there is an actual story worth telling in Blood of Redemption. The first sign of this is the fact that he implements voice-over narration into the film which is flawed for countless reasons. For one thing, VO narration is a technique for lazy filmmakers. Second of all, there is no interesting story worth telling with the action VO narration. And third of all, the standard for acting in Blood of Redemption is so low that the VO narration comes with no sprit or charisma. The lines delivered in this experience are an endless barrage of action movie cliches without mercy. Audiences get these hammered into their ears by the VO narration and then again by the actors. Nameless and emotionless actors have to force the blandest and thinly-scripted dialogue onto viewers with faces of absolute disinterest. The only cast member who has any imagination during the entire film is Vinnie Jones. He seems to be the only one who has interest in working for his paycheck throughout this dull production. His method of entertaining viewers comes from doing a pretentious impersonation of an aggressive Jason Statham, his co-star from multiple films. Vinnie Jones has gained recognition for maintaining a tough guy image, and in Blood of Redemption he manages to stay consistent with his other performances. It's just a shame that he doesn't get more time to upgrade his status as an action hero due to the complete lack of actual action that occurs throughout the narrative. Vinnie Jones plays Vinnie Jones to his most stereotypical, and perhaps audiences with the absolute least standard for entertainment will find sufficient viewing pleasure in the experience. It would still require a worldwide search to actually find such a viewer though. Dolph Lundgren should have been the star in Blood of Redemption, but the film actually found to value in doing anything with him. Most of the time he is given the orders to stand around and drone on monotonously rather than actually getting into fights like he should be doing. I mean, Dolph Lundgren is a 3rd dan black belt in Kyokushin karate and yet all Blood for Redemption gets him to do is stand around droning on with an occasional moment or two where he holds a fake gun and shakes it ever so slightly to simulate gunfire. Not many people would say that Dolph Lundgren deserves any amazing kind of film, but any film that fails to embrace his bare basic skills as an action hero and instead condemns him to maintain a mundane demeanour for its entirety is certainly not up to his standard. He manages to put a half-assed effort into ensuring that there is at least some dramatic charisma that comes with it, but it is definitely not his finest work. That's largely because the man is limited as an actor, but can deliver entertaining justice in the right action film. Unfortunately, Blood of Redemption is not the right action film. Not for anyone involved in the production, not for anyone watching at home. The problem with Blood of Redemption is that it takes itself way too seriously, too much to be any kind of a guilty pleasure. It spends less time attempting to be any kind of an action film and a significantly greater amount of time attempting to be a legitimate crime film. The crimes depicted in the film are all generic and there is nothing intimidating about any of the characters. There is just a ridiculous obsession with dialogue even though the film has no respectable writing prospects to it. The only aspect of Blood of Redemption worthy of earning any praise whatsoever should be credited to the musical score. It's not precisely a groundbreaking score, but the composition on the music is executed with a lot of sophistication. There is a mix between gentle instrumental work and modern popular music. Even though the film is bereft of thrills, the musical score for Blood of Redemption at least manages to carry some sense of value to it. Blood of Redemption betrays its title and the presence of action hero Dolph Lundgren by managing to implement a minimal quality of actual action scenes into the narrative, opting instead to obsess over an abundance of dialogue with a script which has nothing interesting to say and no interesting characters to say it which somehow manages to make 82 minutes seem twice as long.
