That cheap, trashy aspect works to its advantage; it doesn’t have overblown action set pieces and doesn’t ask to be taken seriously. It’s a grotesque gross-out movie, made to get a scream out of you. And maybe a chuckle.

Clayface has a classic horror feel, like the science-gone-wrong films such as the original Universal Frankenstein and The Invisible Man, but combined with the classic body horror of Re-Animator or David Cronenberg’s The Fly.

Its exciting to see DC allow filmmakers to take genre swings. Clayface succeeds most when relishing in the body horror elements, though some of the story and character development feel a little less fired and glazed than we'd like.

Very well made and good moments, but takes way too long to become interesting. The final act is where it starts to get good the first 2/3 is meh. I’m a huge DC fan and wanted to love this movie but most of it was unfortunately a bit boring. Nice effects though.
