After an amazing introduction in which Ian McKellan laments a world that has allowed theatre to die, the play we all know begins. I'll always love McKellan but I couldn't get past the age and sex blindness. The veteran actor can't give a bad performance but he's playing a character younger than his mother but he's older? And making Laertes and Hamlet's father women? It made no sense. I was unable to immerse myself. See more Read all reviews
