It was fine but as good an actor Morgan Freeman is he’s not Alex Cross they should have gone younger for the part. The book is much better (as often is) but I enjoyed it for what it was

Good but shoulda been more dark. Book is much better. Pretty easy to figure out the killer

James Patterson gets his first big screen adaptation with this big budget translation of the best-selling novel. Morgan Freeman is a formidable Alex Cross and Ashley Judd is well cast as Kate McTiernan, a nurse and serial killer survivor who helps Freeman and his team track down a prolific duo of savage murderers. Freeman is personally invested here as well as his niece (Gina Ravera) is one of the abducted. One of the identities is revealed early on and there is a nice twist at the end. The film plods in parts and the urgency of its source material is somewhat diminished; but altogether it makes for an entertaining, if formulaic, suspense thriller.

It might not be brilliant, but it's a good thriller that manages to entertain and works very well with suspense and tension. Worth watching. Even though it is easy to assume who the killer might be very early in the movie.
