Once apprehended, Geoff is sent to a mariner's academy run by kindly headmaster Capt. Briggs (Charles Coburn) that houses orphaned boys. Geoff resists the school's discipline and runs away, but school leader Terry O'Mulvaney (Mickey Rooney) brings him back, then refuses to tell on him -- prompting Geoff to reconsider his attitude.
