Teenagers Nancy, Quentin, Kris, Jesse and Dean are all neighborhood friends who begin having the same dream of a horribly disfigured man who wears a tattered sweater and a glove made of knives. The man, Freddy Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley), terrorizes them in their dreams, and the only escape is to wake up. But when one of their number dies violently, the friends realize that what happens in the dream world is real, and the only way to stay alive is to stay awake.

A true franchise killer. Forget about the original nightmares; this movie is just bad on its own merits. It's slow, boring, predictable, and the cast is unremarkable. Haley's Freddy is so-so. The misuse of Clancy Brown is a crying shame. The creative team never understood what made these films popular, and they delivered this aberration instead of a nightmare.

This is criminally underrated. Sure you can say the original's the best (totally agree), however, this is not far off. The actors are great, so that's not a problem, and you also have to remember this is re-imagined. The fact that it did so bad is ridiculous. Freddy is not a murder here (until the dream world), but rather more pedophiliac here. This is the one take that didn't make as much sense. If he tortured the children before, he should continue to do that when he meets up with them again. Killing them is revenge, but it should be savored. This definitely had some jump scares and it is a standard that will hold up. Anyone watching this with new eyes of whom isn't a critic will see/understand this.

Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) is definitely a good movie, but it's the pacing and the details is what makes it a lower rated movie in my opinion. But the way they describe the newer version of Freddy actually makes sense and also paints him as more of a villain than a misunderstood killer, the way they showed what he did to those kids made people (including myself) extremely hate him but people still dislike this movie which is still bizarre to me. Overall I do like this movie but it was just the pacing that made it decent.
