It's more like a bad dream in Hollywood.

There's just no fun to be had in this. The kills aren't good. The gore's not good. It's not scary.
June 7, 2019
Dramatically inert and devoid of fresh ideas.
May 10, 2019
I think it's a film that succeeds within its own boundaries. For that it deserves faint praise. It's definitely the best of the recent horror remakes.

Dear makers of this thing: You guys are doing it wrong. So much so that I want to get you in a room and say, "I don't believe in you! You're not real!" until you disappear.
August 28, 2018
You had a perfect opportunity to reboot a classic and this is what you guys came up with? It's pretty lifeless.
August 6, 2018
Freddy Krueger's reinvention is a humor-free remake that flags until the satisfying final scenes.
September 11, 2017
It's cliched, boring, and anticlimactic.
August 26, 2015
So generic, so lazy, and so forgettable they may as well have "we're not even trying" plastered across the bottom of the screen.

This Elm Street reeks of a rushed cash-grab, as even the most reliable of clichéd shocks fail to register on the fright-o-meter.
December 25, 2012
This flimsy remake is a nightmare and unworthy of your time.
September 24, 2012
Many people have already made the mistake of holding this film up to the original, expecting it to be just as good, but it just isn't. However, taken on its own, it's still an entertaining horror film and an interesting take on the material.
April 8, 2012
An homage to Craven's vision that is believably earnest in execution and completely faithful in spirit.
April 3, 2012
Mara and Gallner make an attractive couple on the lam and Haley, as Freddy Krueger, hams it up to an almost alarming degree.
November 5, 2011
Haley offers a darker, meaner take on the iconic character.
September 7, 2011
I did jump a few times, and I liked Haley's dour malevolence, but overall, the new Nightmare on Elm Street is a by-the-numbers bad dream.
August 18, 2011
There's really no reason to see this dreadful picture; better to rent the 1984 feature.
