Aimed at YAs, it's far too melodramatic with sci-fi jargon-filled dialogue that's shallow, superficial & often mumbled. As Chancellor. Holly Hunter is sloppy & unkempt, flopping in the captain's chair like a barefoot hippie in a dorm room.

As far as Star Trek goes this is a completely different angle than the usual captain venturing the unknown. But I found it refreshing and if you watch the entire thing rather than the first couple episodes it ends up being worth a watch. Although I admit I was sceptical watching the first couple of episodes but it gets better. It’s funny how many people review bombed this if the shows not for you then fair enough, don’t watch it but to act like it’s ruined a franchise is extreme. This show targeted a new demographic while trying to also keep interest of their current fans unfortunately it seems they completely failed to properly advertise the show to draw any new viewers. My final point would be there’s always some shows that aren’t as good as others in tv especially those all set within the same universe. However, regardless of opinions don’t review bomb how this performs dictates how much the studio invests into Star Trek. AND I NEED MORE STAR TREK SO LEAVE GOOD REVIEWS THANKS

I don’t know what everyone is talking about. This is Trek to its core! Paul Giamatti is brilliant and I love Holly Hunter. TIg’s Jett Reno is a brilliant add. I’m so disappointed the show has been cancelled.

-I loved these actors and what they were trying to do, but it fit into a Gen Z trope instead of being a real story. -Starfleet Academy is about Caleb Mir, not about humanity, or what life could be. Someone aptly called it "One Tree Hill" in space. -It also low-balls the intelligence of the audience. For example, when all of Federation Space was cordoned off by a ring of explosives.
