The plot is not the point. What Powwow Highway does best is to create two unforgettable characters and give them some time together. Go to Full Review

02/18/2021 The plot is only part of the movie, really. The depiction of the struggles of native americans is the real point. The music is right on. The casting is a little off with Adolph Martinez as one of the principal characters. I'd much rather have seen this part go to an authentic. Not that Martinez does a bad job. The story is a little unfinished; I'd like to have seen them return to their reservation and mess up the corporation trying to steal their land. See more 04/18/2020 Love this movie. Haven't seen it in many years. Can't wait to see it again! See more robert m 11/06/2019 This movie is very spiritual, in its own way, but it's not the sugar sweet "spirituality" that's popular with Hollywood and whatever is left from the New Age. It may be one of the best of the movies about modern Native Americans. Sad to say, the list is not very long. See more Jon T @jon_talbot56 12/28/2017 Entertaining enough if as others have noted a bit preachy. There are some good performances and it is essentially warm hearted. Bear this in mind when the willing suspension of disbelief starts to waver a little. See more 06/24/2017 An odd storyline about two American Indians going on a road trip. They touch on issues of the Indian reservations including poverty and mining corporations but that's only a sub plot to the film.
