At the Brentwood Asylum for the mentally ill, psychiatrist partners Jane Everest (Claudette Colbert) and Alex MacGregor (Joel McCrea) are broken up by the new superintendent, Dr. Charles Monet (Charles Boyer), who has a low regard for women physicians. Jane and Charles clash on patient treatment, and Jane learns that Charles has a sister, Claire (Helen Vinson), with a mysterious past. For it's time it was probably quite enlightened but now it's woefully dated. Colbert was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar and while she's competent as usual they is nothing extraordinary about her work here.
