Ronald Levaco grew up in China, but his Russian-Jewish family left in the late 1940s as the communist revolution spread throughout the country. In this documentary, Levaco returns to China to find his father's old friend, Israel Epstein, who remained in the nation after most Westerners fled. Not only that, he went so far as to take part in the revolution and become a citizen, and has since remained faithful to his Maoist beliefs, even after being jailed in the 1970s on trumped-up charges.
