If you like Bond movies, you'll like it.

I thought it was really fun.

If SKYFALL was the film to make old-school Bond retro and acceptable rather than passe and anachronistic, then SPECTRE embraces it wholeheartedly. As entertaining as SKYFALL was (and SPECTRE is at times), it seems you reap what you sow.

Craig has one last chance to beat the odds with the 25th adventure. The phrase, "James Bond Will Return" is at the end of the credits. Let's hope it's a promise and not a threat.

The Mendes Bonds are beautiful, thrilling, funny, and sad. But Spectre takes on too much for ultimately too little return.

The producers have put $300 million into this Bond-stravaganza, so they need to feel like they're getting their money's worth. You probably will, too.

Spectre, however, falls well short of that high-mark, and as great as some of its moments are, it might actually be the weakest of the Daniel Craig Bond movies.

Spectre's entire problem harkens back to that long-grieved desire about both having and eating cake. A film can be gritty and brutal or campy and silly. If a movie is all of those things, it leaves you shaken and not stirred.

A strange kind of hybrid that isn't fully realistic, or unrealistic enough to be pure, vintage Bond.

Action-packed and witty: a classic British spy caper...

It's an old school Bond movie with some good action, some silly banter and beautiful women.

Venturing into overwrought psychological waters, the film stretches out a thin story to breaking point.
April 10, 2019
Spectre can certainly be enjoyed on its own, but it does do a good job of tying together all the pieces left behind in the previous three films. An entertaining trip into the world of 007, even if it isn't as good as its predecessor.

Although often absorbing and on par with the quality of spectacle we've come to expect from our tuxedoed hero, SPECTRE proves its predecessor a tough act to follow and finds itself caught in its own tentacles.

If Skyfall was the pinnacle of Craig's run as Bond, Spectre signals a slight downturn and a need for the series to break new ground and redefine who James Bond is for the next generation.
January 17, 2019
Spectre starts to run out of steam late, with the rousing start long a memory by the time the final scene arrives. Still, there is enough here to keep Bond fans satisfied.
January 2, 2019
Perhaps it's my own fatigue with the Bond franchise and the knowledge of exactly where it will go and how things will turn out that makes the old-fashioned and nicely campy Spectre not as gripping a ride as I would have wanted it to be.
December 25, 2018
Spectre is perhaps not as accessible to the average viewer, but it might be more rewarding as an entry in not just the franchise, but Daniel Craig's time in the role.
November 10, 2018
Betrays the series' increasingly transparent three-yearly exercise in blandly aspirational, deluxe brand management par excellence.
November 9, 2018
Spectre has its up and down moments and never is quite sure about standing alone as an independent Bond story or being dismissed as a pit stop for 007-related flashbacks and reference bits ode to yesteryear's glory.
