What to know

critics consensus

Joe Keery's magnetic screen presence can't disguise Spree's shallow critique of social media culture -- although that lack of depth may be precisely the point. Read critic reviews

Spree has a lot of the same vibes as Creep except with a twenty-something Uber driver trying to be a Youtube influencer. The film is elevated by a maniacally gleeful performance by Joe Keery (Stranger Things) who plays the fantastically named Kurt Kunkle. It was also a pleasant surprise seeing David Arquette of Scream fame playing Kunkle's doofus dad. I didn't enjoy it as much as I'd expected -- I think I have social media fatigue.
